About Our RoSPA Membership By becoming a RoSPA member and having in place a formal Health & Safety Management System makes a clear statement of our continued commitment to safety,
the role of RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) is to focus on significant issues which will reduce
accident and incident figures and on issues where a worthy contribution
can be made.
Extending the Scope of Our Current ISO Registration to OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety) We are actively seeking to extend the scope of our ISO accreditation to embrace our Health & Safety Management System and achieve formal external accreditation to OHSAS 18001 in the near future.

Effective Planning
Regulations likely to effect employees of ECES Ltd may include: -

- Manual Handling Regulations 1992
- Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 2002
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999
- Workplace Health Safety and Welfare Regulations 1992
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
Schedules of Work
- To carry out risk assessments on every ECES site and ensure preventive and protective measures are implemented.
- Establish priorities and develop performance standards both for the completion of the risk assessments and the implementation of preventative and protective measures.
Organisation
- Involve managers and supervisors in carrying out risk assessments, deciding on preventive and protective measures and implementing them in their work areas.
- Establish effective means of communications and consultation in which a positive approach to health and safety is visible and clear.
- Keep management informed so that decisions can be made about the choice of preventive and protective measures (feedback).
- Provide adequate information, instruction and training for those required to carryout risk assessments. Support will be given from the Health and Safety Advisor.
Control
- Clarify health and safety responsibilities.
- Ensure that those with responsibilities understand what they have to do.
- Setting standards to judge the performance of those with responsibilities and ensure they meet them by having annual audits.
- Ensure that managers and supervisors give health and safety training to new employees and those learning a new job.
Monitoring and Review
- Plan routine inspections and checks to ensure that preventive and protective measures are in place and effective.
- Keep on top of incidents and accidents by carrying out immediate investigations and ensuring that remedial action is carried out, lessons are learned and longer-term objectives are introduced.
- Record and analyse the results of the monitoring activity to identify any underlying themes or trends.
- Periodically review the whole of the health and safety management system including the elements of planning, organisation, control and monitoring to ensure that the whole system remains effective.
